Our hands down favorite restaurant! If you’ve visited us before you already know how delicious it is. We get the lime mojitos, queso con chorizo and the pastel de choclo con chorizo! Open: Tuesday-Saturday 4:30pm-10:00pm. Heads up: it is usually very noisy so bring ear protection if you need it.
We went here on our first date! Great sweet potato biscuits for brunch! Open Monday - Friday 8am-2pm and Saturday - Sunday 8am-3pm. Heads up - Only outdoor patio seating!
Featured on Guy Fieri’s Dinners Drive-Ins and Dives, Doumar’s is a local legend. Over the past 100 years, Doumar’s has become an historic Hampton Roads landmark, known for its friendly staff, delicious food, fun atmosphere, and, of course, inventing the world’s first waffle cone. Fun fact - Johnnie has been featured on the doumars instagram and the owners have three corgi’s themselves!
All Hands Pottery has single evening pottery classes that are informative and fun for all. I learned more in a beginner class here than I did from the semester long classes I took at W&M! Fun Fact - The owner, Angela, is a retired USN Senior Chief and the studio name comes from the phrase all hands on deck!
The Perry Glass studio is what sets the Chrysler Museum apart from other art museums and was even mentioned on Netflix’s Blown Away. They host single day classes as well as 15 minute instructor led Hot Glass classes. The studio also offers other classes and free glass demos! Check out their event calendar!
Whether you want Wood Fired Neapolitan Pizza or creative local beer, Commonwealth is the place to be. If you need more than that just ask Lisa, it’s her favorite!
Slover Library is among the most technologically advanced public libraries in the country and offers high-tech civic meeting rooms, the Creative Studios, and the important Sargeant Memorial Collection(local history and genealogy).
The Botanical Gardens hold a lot of memories for both Rowan and Julianna but on March 26th, Rowan prepared an extravagant picnic complete with floral styling, a fancy charcuterie board, our families and our dog Johnnie who had to be snuck into the park. This was no ordinary picnic though, Rowan got on their bad knees and asked Julianna to marry them. Outside of the sentimental value- the botanical gardens host plenty of events and offer gorgeous scenery for leisurely strolls, picnics and nature walks. Our favorite areas are the Renaissance Court and and the Sculpture Gallery. Heads up- the Gardens do cost money to enter and aren’t the best for folks with bad joints/issues walking.
For the night owls and party animals, Grain is Norfolk’s only Rooftop Beer Garden. With one of the best selections of craft beer in Norfolk (over 100 beers on tap), Grain brings the indoors out and the outdoors in with an open air patio and fire pit set against spectacular views of the Elizabeth River. Heads up- As the evening progresses this place becomes party central. It gets loud, crowded, boisterous and full of young folks (oh no, youths).
Are you a lover of fancy grilled cheese? Do you crave chimichurri and Parmesan coated French fries? Look no further than Grilled Cheese Bistro! Heads up- Grilled Cheese is very popular and has limited seating. Buyer Beware. It can also be pretty noisy.
