In 2016, Matt moved to Newberg, Oregon to attend George Fox University and pursue his doctorate in physical therapy. Meanwhile, Hannah lived only few miles away in the city of Hillsboro. Despite living less than half an hour apart, the pair never met during those 3 years. Fast-forward to 2021, Matt and Hannah matched on the dating app, Hinge. By this time, Matt had relocated to his hometown of Spokane and Hannah had recently transplanted to Lewiston, ID, over 100 miles away. Hannah, eager to meet the dashing Matt, offered to drive the roughly two and a half hours to meet. Matt agreed and they set the date for Sunday, November 28th at Cozy Coffee. Neither of them like coffee. Still, the pair spent 6 hours at the coffee shop-- half of it in the parking lot because the shop closed on them. The second date lasted even longer as the couple impulsively hiked to a scenic viewpoint above the Snake River. There they discussed their love of Jesus, their families, politics, work, sports and, well, pretty much everything else they could think of. Most importantly, they decided to delete Hinge. After all, it is the app made to be deleted. Unfortunately, Hannah had parked behind a gate meant to be locked at sunset which had been much, much earlier in the evening. Because of this, a sheriff's deputy showed up at Hannah's parents’ home looking for her, much to the displeasure of her mother. After arriving back at the parking lot, profuse apologies were given to Lewiston's finest. No one died or was arrested...But two people were falling in love. The story did not end there and many adventures took place afterward: axe throwing, 10+ mile hikes, the breaking of relatives' arms, Gonzaga basketball games, harrowing trail rides, nerf wars, road trips, zip lining, paddle boarding, mud runs, and, of course, lots of archery! Exactly 40 weeks after their first date, Matt took Hannah back to the overlook on the Snake River where they had their first run-in with the law; it was there he asked Hannah to be his wife. Although this time they made sure to hike out before the gate closed! They're not sure where the rest of their lives will take them but they are excited to walk through life hand-in-hand. Thank you for being an important part of their lives and choosing to join them on their special day!
