Chicago has some of the most incredible architecture in the country, and the best way to see it in the summer is by boat. Our favorite tours are run by the Chicago Architecture Center, but there are lots of different options!
Of all Chicago's world-class museums, the Art Institute is our favorite. Fun fact - we're members of the museum and visit as often as we can to see new exhibits! Live your very own Ferris Bueller's day off with A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, see the classics (Nighthawks is one of our favorites), and don't miss the Modern wing.
If you can make your way up to the north side, a Cubs game at Wrigley is the activity to do on a summer day. The Cubs are playing the Royals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of our wedding weekend. Pro tip: 1:20 pm games are the best. Don't forget to bring your own peanuts and get a nice cold 312!
Chicago has a lot of great places to eat. If you're after Michelin stars and TV-famous chefs, Fulton Market is the place to be. Some of our favorite restaurants are Monteverde, Duck Duck Goat, Swift & Sons, the Loyalist and Aba, but you really can't go wrong. Just be sure to check for reservations on OpenTable or Resy in advance.... far in advance.
The shore of Lake Michigan is full of fun summer activities, from running or biking down the lakeshore path, to Zach's favorite - golfing! We love soaking up the sun on Oak Street beach when it's especially hot out. There's a great cafe with drinks and food, and when else can you lay on the beach under the shadow of skyscrapers?
Another great Chicago neighborhood for food, close to our venue. Pilsen is known for it's amazing Mexican food and street art. Some of our favorites are 5 Rabanitos for a casual meal; Dusek's, S.K.Y. and HaiSous for world-class dining; and Pilsen Yards for great drinks and an open patio. The National Museum of Mexican Art is here and absolutely beautiful as well - plus free admission!
If you're looking to check out some of Chicago's best craft breweries all within walking distance of each other, look no further than "Malt Row" in Ravenswood. Close to where we live (what a coincidence...) we like Dovetail Brewery, Begyle Brewing, KOVAL Distillery and Half Acre Balmoral.
