Ross and Rebecca met in the early days of the pandemic at a patio restaurant providentially called Paradiso. Their matchmaker and mutual friend, Rachel Schoellkopf, was insistent that they meet in early 2020 but for a variety of reasons the timing wasn't right. Rachel was so determined that Rebecca and Ross were right for each other that when setting up the guest list for her own wedding, she affirmed that Ross could have a plus one but he didn't need it because she was inviting her friend Rebecca. Ross was interested but then the world shut down. A month into the pandemic, Ross reached out to Rachel again to inquire about Rebecca only to learn that she was still riding out Covid in sequester at her family's lake house. In May, Ross asked Rachel once more and, perhaps exasperated, Rachel responded "hang in there, she will return." At long last, toward the end of May, Rebecca returned to Dallas. Prior to the date, Rebecca told her friend that she had a feeling this date was different and that Ross would "play a big part in her life." Ross and Rebecca went out that weekend and instantly hit it off. Rebecca was beautiful and funny, sharing stories about her family and trips to the East Coast and Ross kept her laughing with stories about various characters and travels. They had so much fun that they continued the date at Reveler's Hall, spending some 4-5 hours together that evening. Ross and Rebecca both felt like this date was the beginning of a great thing-and they were right! "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness". Lamentations 3:22-23
