Things To Do

We wanted to give you a few of our favorites spots to check out while you are in Charlotte. I put the best stops to do in between the ceremony and reception at the top. charlotte.axios.com and the Instagram handle "axioscharlotte" has so many great restaurants and things to do for Charlotte listed, as well as charlottesgotalot.com. In general, there a ton of great breweries and restaurants in South End, and NoDa neighborhoods. Both are located on opposite sides of downtown. You can hop on the Light Rail Blue Line and go to some of these breweries easily.
Merchant and Trade Rooftop Bar

Merchant and Trade Rooftop Bar

303 South Church Street, Charlotte, NC 28202
, (704) 445-2550

Merchant and Trade is a chic locale bar atop the 19th floor of Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel (one of our hotel blocks), serving craft cocktails, local beers & elevated bar bites. It has a great view of the city lights, the Knights Stadium, and Romare Bearden park, where Ross proposed! This would be a great place to go for a drink in between the ceremony and reception. You can walk in, but having a reservation is always helpful!

Farenheit Restaurant and Rooftop Bar

Farenheit Restaurant and Rooftop Bar

222 S Caldwell Street, Charlotte, NC 28202
, 980-237-6718

Another awesome Rooftop Bar! Also a short walk from the hotel blocks and church. This is Camille's favorite Charlotte view as it is just outside the skyline buildings. Great drinks and appetizers, and beautiful sunset views. This would be a great place to go for a drink in between the ceremony and reception! It is a little bigger than Merchant and Trade, so you can walk in for sure, but reservations are always helpful.

Nuvole Rooftop TwentyTwo

Nuvole Rooftop TwentyTwo

220 East Trade Street, Charlotte, NC 28202

Another awesome Rooftop Bar! This would be a great place to go for a drink in between the ceremony and reception! This rooftop bar is a little smaller so reservations are always helpful.

Sophia's Lounge

Sophia's Lounge

127 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202
, (704) 503-9322

Sophia's Lounge is an elevated gathering place in The Ivey’s Hotel with a vintage feel serving cocktails & small plates. Just a few short blocks away from St. Peter Catholic Church. See the link for their website with menu and reservation options. Very cute atmosphere. This would be a great place to go for a drink in between the ceremony and reception!

Aura Rooftop

Aura Rooftop

124 East Stonewall Street, Charlotte, NC 28202
, (704) 499-6645

Brand new rooftop bar on the top of the new JW Marriott. This is probably the closest rooftop bar to St. Peter, if you want to take in some great views of the city with a drink in between the ceremony and reception!

Restoration Hardware Charlotte

Restoration Hardware Charlotte

6903 Phillips Place Court, Charlotte, NC 28210
, (704) 790-4970

Charlotte's Restoration Hardware has a beautiful rooftop patio in the Southpark area, which is about halfway between the church downtown and the reception at Quail Hollow. This could be a great pit stop on the way from the ceremony to the reception to have a light bite, or a nice drink!!

Romare Bearden Park

Romare Bearden Park

300 South Church Street, Charlotte, NC 28202
, (704) 432-4280

Where Ross proposed!! Right outside the Kimpton Hotel Block and Merchant and Trade Rooftop bar- great little park to enjoy the break between the ceremony and reception!

Charlotte Beer Garden

Charlotte Beer Garden

1300 S Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28203
, 704-375-1776

The world’s largest selection of draft beers available in one restaurant. Three stories of draft beer with a skyline view! Open 11:00 am-2:00 am. Half a mile walk from St. Peter and the rehearsal dinner. We will be having our Welcome Event here- you can also stop by for light bites and variety of beers in between the ceremony and reception!

The Rail Yard

The Rail Yard

1713 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28206
, (704) 634-6764

This is a little area in Southend, close to downtown that is easily accessible from the Light Rail. They have a map on their website of which lines take you there, if you want to take the light rail from downtown during the day! There are lots of breweries close to this area- like Wooden Robot, one of our favorites! Rail Yard has lots of great eateries too- see their website for the full list. Ross and I love Flower Child too, which is right across the street.

Optimist Hall

Optimist Hall

1115 North Brevard Street, Charlotte, NC 28206
, (980) 701-0040

Optimist Hall is a 147,000 square foot redevelopment of a former gingham mill featuring a food hall complemented by retail, restaurants, and the Duke Energy Innovation Center. Located in the Optimist Park neighborhood between Uptown and NoDa, the development by Charlotte-based White Point and Atlanta-based Paces Properties has transformed a turn-of-the-century textile mill into one of the most unique projects in the Charlotte metropolitan area. This would be a great place to get a bite to eat on Saturday before the ceremony or Sunday! Similar to Camp North End, but a bit closer.

Camp North End

Camp North End

300 Camp Road, Charlotte, NC

"Over 70 acres of work, play, history and vision." Explore the many restaurants, shops, and fun Camp North End has to offer! This would be for our guests spending the whole weekend in Charlotte! Lots to do and explore, but would want a big chunk of time.

US National Whitewater Center

For the outdoorsy guest!! Huge outdoor center (1,300 acres of protected land offering 50 miles of trail and access to the Catawba River and Long Creekover) with 30 different recreational activities including whitewater rafting (or simply pulling up a chair to watch the rafts dump), rock climbing, ziplining, challenge courses, trail biking/hiking, kayaking, canoeing. Day passes are available. It is about 20 minutes away from downtown, so not much time to do prior to the ceremony, but Friday or Sunday would be perfect for guests wanting to explore more! This would be for our guests spending the whole weekend in Charlotte! Lots to do and explore, but would want a big chunk of time.

Nascar Hall of Fame
