Our Story

2 February 2019: A girl sat alone at the bar watching soccer on TV, away from all the other rugby players at the team social. There was a man in the distance about to leave until he saw her sitting alone. He muttered something, hoping for a response and it was then she turned around to see that he was actually talking to her. In her head she thought how handsome this fellow rugger was but unbeknownst to her- he knew exactly who she was and had just been waiting for the right time to pluck up the courage to go and talk to her. He had seen her a few times in previous months, only for his nerve to go at the wrong time and his subsequent fact finding missions to turn out fruitless! He had never actually had the opportunity to talk to her before so finally, seeing her alone he thought quick on his feet to say something. She responded and invited him to sit down and they began to speak. The ice was broken, minutes turned into hours although it seemed to them both to be seconds. Before they knew it, it was time to leave. Having had such a good time they decided to connect on Facebook and began messaging into the next day. The next day her car broke down and he saved the day by offering to taxi her around. During that week of driving Miss Daisy they began to learn more and more about each other and it was after that they became inseparable. 4 months passed until the man had the option to go back to Wales in June of 2019 but he knew this was more than a fling, he knew he had to give it a chance and so he did something he had never done before, he took a leap of faith and stayed in the US to give it every chance and to see if this girl could be the one. It was during that time that she stole his heart and in turn he stole hers. He returned back to Wales in late fall and at Christmas the girl came to visit. Meeting and being accepted by his children and his family gave her confidence to know he was the one she was going to marry and the feeling was indeed mutual.

Engagement

The first week of February 2020, just over 1 year after that magical first night, the man picked up the phone, doing something he told himself he would never do and he phoned the girl's father to ask for her hand in marriage - he obviously said yes :-P 15th of February 2020: The proposal was both beautiful and original, the man had used his cousins studio and had recorded their song “Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" by Andy Williams, he had uploaded it to his phone and also had it put on CD for her with a photo of them both on the cover. He got her attention and played it cool, he told her in conversation that it had recently been re-released in the UK - her whole immediate family were there as he pressed play, she knew something was up but played along. He had recorded the whole song for her and ended it by changing the last lyric to “will you marry me?” She was blown away! And here we are! :-D
