This is a great attraction for those staying at the Canopy by Hilton, it is less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel & has great views of downtown Minneapolis. Great photo op!
At the Mill City Museum you can learn about the history of how Minneapolis came to be nick-named the "flour milling capital of the world". This museum is built within the ruins of the old Washburn A Mill, one of the oldest and largest flour mills in the world. This attraction is walking distance from both the wedding venue & the designated hotels. The Mill City Farmers Market is hosted in the "historic train shed" just outside of the museum campus on Saturdays in September from 9am-1pm.
The Mall of America is a classic Twin Cities tourist attraction that will have an activity for everyone to enjoy. It houses over 520 retail stores from luxury designers, to classic American brands. Located southwest of downtown Minneapolis, in the Linden Hills neighborhood, Lake Harriet is a great destination for those looking to get outside and explore the "Minnesota lake life". There is a walking and biking path around the lake (about 2.8 miles around) for those looking to get a little outdoor exercise in. Enjoy the view of the beautiful homes, the Lake Harriet rose garden, & stop by the Lake Harriet bandshell for a free outdoor concert & an ice cream along your stroll. For those interested in exploring more Minneapolis parks & lakes, Lake Bde Maka Ska & Lake of the Isles share common features to Lake Harriet and are just a short drive, or bike ride, from Lake Harriet.
The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is home to a collection of modern and contemporary pieces from the Minneapolis Walker Art Center. This exhibit is free of charge and located outdoors in a park across the street from the art museum.
Home of the Minnesota Vikings. This new stadium was complete in July of 2016. Since opening, it has not only hosted all Minnesota Vikings home games, it has also hosted numerous concerts, the Superbowl in 2018 and the NCAA Final Four tournament in 2019. This stadium is hard to miss downtown and a close walk for those guests staying at either of the designated hotels.
Also known as the "great Minnesota get together", the Minnesota State Fair is home to everything & anything you can eat on a stick! Some of our favorites include pickles on a stick, pronto pups (corn dog), beer on a stick, deep fried candy bars on a stick, and pizza on a stick. If you're feeling adventurous, give alligator on a stick a try! Some of our "non-stick" favorite fair foods include, Sweet Martha's Chocolate chip cookies, the "Fresh Cut Fry" stand at the Midway, and Mouth Trap cheese curds. The Minnesota State Fair has lots of activities to do other than eating & drinking, stop by the Miracle of Life barn to see new born baby animals, the diary barn to see the famous "dairy queen" statues carved out of butter, or the midway to ride those classic fair rides & play the classic fair games we all know and love. The fair runs from August 25-Sept 5, 2022.
