If the weather permits, spend some time on one of Forest Park's 80 miles worth of trails. As one of the largest urban parks in the U.S., it offers a great way to experience the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest without having to go too far.
Portland goes by many names, one of which is the Rose City. With relatively moderate temperatures year round, Portland's climate is perfect for roses. Visit the rose garden to explore how wonderfully diverse this beautiful flower can be.
Planning to make a trip out of your visit to Portland? You might enjoy a trip to Mt. Hood for some winter recreation. Of course, you don't have to put on snow pants to have a good time at Timberline Lodge. Fun fact: The exterior of the lodge was used as The Stanley Hotel in The Shining.
If you've got time to spare and are curious about the rugged beauty of the Oregon Coast, we recommend making time for the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Learn about the creamery's history, eat the best grilled cheese of your life, and go through the cheese tasting line twice if you're feeling bold. Just be sure to save room for the Oregon Smoke House across the street—they have some of the best seafood in the state.
