The aquarium is close to the historic downtown! Head out of the pier area and tour the City Hall, Cooper Molera, and other historic locations.
**What is it?** Fantastic easy kayak in a slough sanctuary where you will view Sea Otters, Sea Lions, harbor seals, and over 50 species of birds. **Where is it?** 17 mile drive north on Highway 1. **How much does it cost?** $40pp **How long will I spend?** Recommend reserving and going at 9 am before the winds pick up and allow 3-4 hours. P.S. This is right by Castroville, where most of the world's artichokes come from! We recommend stopping by The Giant Artichoke restaurant after your kayaking trip!
**What is it?** Andrew Molera is a somewhat challenging 6 mile hike in Big Sur along coastal bluffs with great vistas. **Where is it?** 25 miles South on Highway 1 **How much does it cost?** Free! **How long will I spend?** Allow at least ½ a day for this outing. **What is it?** A local vineyard with a casual feel and beautiful grounds. **What is it?** An Italian seafood place with a classic feel and oysters the size of your face! If you love pasta, try the Sicilian Holiday Pasta for a LOT of delicious food. **Where is it?** Right off Del Monte Beach, a 30 minute walk from downtown along the beach or local path **How much does it cost?** 6 oysters run at around $15 **How long will I spend?** It's definitely the kind of place you want to relax and enjoy -- maybe an hour or two! P.S. Other local favorites to try include fish tacos, fried calamari, local salmon, and Dungeness crab (can you tell we're a seafood family?). This is also a center of agriculture so you can't go wrong with local fruit and vegetables!
