Fern Tree Spa
If you're looking to get a massage, a manicure, or other spa services, we also recommend booking them in advance as the spa is very popular. Jess got a blow out to report back, and gave it 2.5 out of 5 stars, but the manicure was tops, 5 out of 5 if you're in a pinch!
Scotchies - Local Bar & Jerk Pit
This is a fun, laid back jerk chicken & bbq place less than 5 minutes away from Half Moon Resort. You can smell assorted meats aflame from the street and you'll immediately feel at ease with a tropical drink at the bar. Coming with a big group? No worries. This place will accommodate you and your friends while you chow down on some of the finest jerk foods in Jamaica.
Margaritaville Montego Bay
I'm sure you're thinking, Margaritaville, isn't that a bit basic? Typically, we would agree, but there is something completely different in the air at this beachside location on the bustling main drag in downtown Mo-Bay! Tasty eats? Yep, they've got that. Large Margaritas that will have you chilling in no more time? Oh yeah, they got that too. Try the Cadillac Margarita and jump on a 3 story slide into the ocean below.
Memorabilia Bar
Memorabilia was recommended to us by our local friend, Romae, who is working on some top secret design stuff for the wedding. This place is like a burning man installation meets an art gallery meets a sports bar. Within minutes, we were well acquainted with the bars owner Jim JIm, who challenged Matt to climb a coconut tree (he did not attempt this). It's a great local hang that has solid food, cheap drinks, and a great outdoor to take in a sunset. It's also less than 5 minutes from the resort.
The Pork Pit
Pork Pit is where locals go to eat authentic meats and more in the heart of Mo-Bay. Don't expect the service to be fast, but do expert the food to be mouth watering. Grab a beer, order a variety of foods, and hit the patio for some low key fun. Don't miss out on the side dishes, as they were the best we had on our trip.
Coral Cliff Casino
Jess and I almost missed our flight home staying here to play electronic roulette! Situated across from Margaritaville, this Casino is home to gambling, live music, an arcade, and most importantly, a fake waterfall full of real crystals. Try your hand at some slots and get some free drinks while you do it.
