Flight
Tanzania has three major international airports. To make your flight experience a lot more seamless, we recommend flying to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), which is the international airport of Dar es Salaam. There are several airline options for traveling to Dar es Salaam. Some of our favorites based on experience include: 1. Emirates (best airport for layovers) 2. Ethiopian Airlines (shortest travel time if choosing the 1 stop option) 3. Turkish Airlines (most affordable)
Travel Note
In order to travel to Tanzania, please ensure that you obtain a visa on your passport prior to arrival. You can apply for your visa online via the link below. Please note that you will need an unexpired passport to travel and you must have a minimum of six months validity from your last day in Tanzania or Zanzibar Island. If you have a passport from a visa-exempt country, please disregard this note. Travel Note
Depending on which country you're traveling from (and how long your layover is prior to arriving in Dar es Salaam), certain vaccines may be required. * Yellow Fever (YF) Vaccine: Required if traveling from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission (this includes >12-hour airport transits or layovers in countries with risk for YF virus transmission). YF vaccine card will be needed to show as proof for entry. Malaria, dengue and chikungunya are all present in Tanzania. Make sure to bring mosquito repellents and antimalarials. Please consult your doctor on the best antimalarial medication to take for your trip as there are multiple drugs available i.e daily tablets & once a week pills (please note that alcohol cannot be consumed while taking antimalarial medication therefore if your planning on consuming alcohol while in Tanzania we recommend the once-a-week pills where alcohol can be consumed any day except for the day you plan to take your pill).
