Jon and I love Zanzibar! Located 15 miles off the coast of Tanzania, Zanzibar is a breathtaking spot to escape from the world. Our engagement photos were taken in Zanzibar and while there, we enjoyed exploring all the great beaches, restaurants, and little towns. Our favorite beach towns: 1. Paje - Paje Beach is a long stretch of white sandy beach with blue sea. The lagoon is popular with kite surfers due to the winds and shallow water. We love it so much there that in all the times we've vacationed in Zanzibar, we've alwayed stayed in Paje! 2. Nungwi - Nungwi is a tourist hotspot due to its prime location on the main island. Nungwi is the most popular beach in Zanzibar because the tide does not go out much and the water is always perfect. 3. Kiwengwa - Kiwengwa Beach is a paradise for those who prefer a more relaxed and tranquil vacation.
The Ngorongoro Carter is the world's largest inactive, unbroken and unfilled volcanic caldera. Voted one of Africa's Seven Natural Wonders, the Ngorongoro Crater is home to several wild animals making it a unique safari destination area (please note that there aren’t any giraffes in the carter). We recommend visiting the Carter through a local travel agency/tour operator like Antelope Safaris.
Slipway is a beautiful shopping center located is at the posh Msasani peninsula, right on the Indian Ocean. Every time Jonathan and Rosemary visit Dar, we always go to Slipway to buy souvenirs, enjoy the stunning sunset, and dine at Jonathan’s all-time favorite restaurant: Thai Kani (he swears they have the best fried rice). Rosemary enjoys visiting the spa and cute bookstore. The location also offers accommodation (Hotel Slipway) 25 minutes to the wedding venue should you wish to reside in the area during your stay in Dar es Salaam.
The ultimate African safari destination! There are plenty of things that make Serengeti unique. It is one of the seven wonders of the world. This park is popular among wildlife enthusiasts, with unique plants, birds, and animals, and an ecosystem that is the largest and oldest on earth. The Serengeti is also home to several indigenous tribes such as the Maasai (ask Jonathan about his Maasai story for a laugh). You can tour the Serengeti by car or by hot air balloon. We recommend visiting the Serengeti with a travel agency/tour operators as they can better coordinate travel from Dar es Salaam to the Serengeti.
