FAQs

Question

Are we going to the game?

Answer

We are not... they don't serve alcohol. We will however be blocks from Camp Randall stadium and have big screen TVs showing the game. For those of you interested in attending the game, kick off is at 8 PM and you can find tickets here: http://uwbadgers.com/

Question

What time is the tailgate?

Answer

5 PM. Kick-off is at 8 PM so for those of you heading to the game, you'll have plenty of time to pre-game with the wedding party.

Question

Can I get to or from the wedding venue by Lyft or Taxi?

Answer

Yes, its about a 25 minute drive. We suggest taking the shuttle from the wedding hotels.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes. There is a parking lot behind the venue. Most guests will likely be taking the bus from the hotel.

Question

Is there a dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Semiformal, please. But we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, let it all hang loose.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

So here's the thing. We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! Kids are welcome throughout the weekend, but the ceremony and reception are an adults-only event. Likewise, most of the events will involve tasty adult beverages, so we can't promise a lot of kid-friendly activities. With that said, we've compiled a list of trusted babysitters in the Madison area with availability during the wedding weekend. We can also help you coordinate with other families to make pickup/dropoff easier and bring down the price. Just email us at randj@theschwayberrys.com. See the next post for a list of babysitters, availability, and rates in the Madison area.

Question

Do you have a list of local babysitters with availability and hourly rates?

Answer

Why yes, yes we do. We can also help you coordinate with others, so feel free to email us at randj@theschwayberrys.com. See below: Lulu Newman 17 yrs old – works at MSCR (in the preschool room) Hourly ask is $12.50 for 3 kids max, $14 for over 3 kids 608-213-4941 Jayla Hogan 17 yrs old – babysitting experience Hourly ask is $12.00 608-333-6442 Amelia Newman 17 yrs old – babysitting experience Hourly ask is $12.00 608-219-2239 Lizzie Schneiderman 20 yrs old – babysits weekly Hourly ask is $12.50 (available around work schedule) 608-443-6433 Soren Hughes sorenrhughes@gmail.com 608-695-9054

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yup. We've got a full weekend planned. Friday night Badger tailgate, Saturday evening Welcome Party and Sunday a ceremony/reception. Please see events page for details.

Question

Do you have any other hotel recommendations?

Answer

Due to the popularity of Badger weekend, Madison-area hotel space is limited (and can be expensive). Our official wedding hotel is The Edgewater and we recommend that you book ASAP (seriously). We have a secondary room block at the AC Hotel which is walking distance from The Edgewater. With that said, if you want to try your hand booking over a big game day weekend, the following hotels are also pretty cool and near downtown: The Graduate, Concourse Hotel, Best Western Inn on the Square.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes.

Question

When should I book my room?

Answer

NOW! Limited block space and Madison gets crazy over game day weekends.

Question

How do I get to the Tailgate?

Answer

The tailgate is about a 25 min walk from The Edgewater. The Edgewater also has gameday shuttles that run every 20 min and drop off a few blocks from the Tailgate location.

For all the days along the way
