Madison, WI

It was a standard Saturday night in Madtown

After a few games of beer pong in downtown Madison, Jeremy decided to venture out on a beautiful June night in Madison. At 1pm, Rosemary, wearing a neon tank top, was boppin' around Alpine Valley watching Jimmy Buffet and partaking in the festivities of the day. Needless to say, neither Jeremy nor Rosemary remembers much from that day. What they both remember however is bar time at the Whiskey River. They locked eyes. They took a tequila shot. And here we are.

The Proposal (Part 1)

The long con

Those who know Jeremy know that he can be obstinate, counter-culture, and annoying (sometimes for the simple sake of being obstinate, counter-culture, and annoying). This is why, when Jeremy started sending Rosemary articles and facts about the diamond "industry", Rose suspected that her future would include a common-law marriage. Rose is cool though, and loved Jeremy for Jeremy (obstinance and all), and was OK without a ring or a marriage license. The long con was on. When Rose floated the idea of a vacation in Greece and offered to plan the entire event, the last thing on her mind was a proposal. After all, she was the one doing the planning. In fact, her friends will validate that even when confronted with the fact that this vacation may be an elaborate ruse designed to create the conditions of a romantic proposal in which Jeremy would propose with a magnificent view of the famous Oia sunset, she completely dismissed their assertions. Jeremy saw his opportunity. He offered to plan just one small part of their vacation (because after all, it wasn't fair that she was going to have to do all of the work). His unsuspecting girlfriend never saw it coming...

The Proposal (part 2)

"i think you mumbled something about your grandma"

After a day at the pool in Santorini (relaxing for Rose, stressful for Jeremy), the couple headed to dinner (finally Jeremy did something). It was to be a fancy dinner, so Rose should probably wear her finest clothing. Luckily, she packed 47 dresses. As they walked down the steps towards the restaurant they could see the magnificent view of the Aegean Sea. Rose only mentioned the "creep with the camera" in passing. She didn't notice however that we were the only people there. She also didn't notice that the owner of the restaurant was present, that the "creep with the camera" was a professional cameraman, or that what appeared to be the cameraman's girlfriend flashing me a quick smile. Having carried an uninsured diamond covertly through international customs (yes, he's an idiot), Jeremy found that the trickiest part was slipping the case in and out of the hotel safes across two separate islands. He was also beginning to think that he was about to propose to the least observant human on the planet. The night before dinner, Rose also hadn't noticed that Jeremy had secretly rendezvoused with a mysterious Greek woman. A woman who he had been skyping for weeks. Eleni was the winner of a rigorous international interview process that had Jeremy narrowing down a list of 15 Greek wedding planners. After placing the appetizer orders and pouring the first glass of wine, Jeremy tried his best to act normal. The pre-sunset view was absolutely stunning, but Jeremy hardly noticed. Luckily, Rose is accustomed to Jeremy acting weird, so she thought nothing of it. That's when the waiter delivered the ring, Jeremy got down on one knee, mumbled some gibberish about grandparents (it was supposed to be about growing old together), and Rose started crying. It turns out that planning the surprise was far more difficult than deciding to spend the rest of his life with this woman.

The Day After

FML

Whats better than surprising your future fiance with a surprise romantic engagement? Following up the surprise romantic engagement with a surprise beach-front dinner and a homemade video of your relationships. Yeah, that would have been nice. Jeremy could make up an excuse for how he screwed up the location, showed up 2 hours late for the surprise he planned, and didn't successfully transfer the video file, but they'd all just be excuses. It's amazing he can hold down a job. By the time the couple arrived for dinner, it was already too dark for the second secret photographer to take pictures of the couple walking down the beach. Although you have to give credit to the photograph, he created quite the elaborate story. He was on assignment to take photographs for the beach restaurant and we were SUCH an attractive couple. When the second part of the surprise, the video of the couple's relationship wouldn't play, Jeremy fessed up to the second (botched) ruse. The couple ended up enjoying a nice meal on the beach and watched the video on Jeremy's phone. Rose still cried.
