They met on move-in day at UCLAW, became roommates through graduation and beyond, and have been tearing up karaoke bars (and the Los Angeles Superior Court system) ever since. They see eye-to-eye the way only two Enneagram 3s can (you probably wouldn't understand because you aren't like us!).
Jake Levings (he/him)
Best Man
In Bordeaux, Jake is the Best Man but most know him simply as THE man. First encountering each other as enemies on the ruthless basketball courts of Whitefish Bay Middle School, they realized this Cucumberland and Richnerd might actually be better as friends. Since then, they've created a long and varied history of making questionable decisions together and depending on how Jake's speech turns out, this may be another. But one thing that isn't in question is the lifelong bond of continuously showing they're there for each other.

From swollmates to soulmates, Mike and Rosemary first connected as workout buddies who met in a law school class. They spent their afternoons damaging the UCLA grad student gym equipment (it's called Crossfit!). Rosemary is legally considered an aunt to Mike's dog Blue. Ask Mike about his small thighs!
Mason Mok (he/him)

A Milwaukee native, Badger, Aerospace Engineer, and LA heartthrob... Mason is a man of many talents and shared cultural DNA with the groom. The stars finally aligned when Mason and Cooper met and became close friends in Los Angeles. His wife, Semone, is officiating our wedding at least partly to make sure I don’t “steal him away.”

Coming soon to a theater near you… A long time ago (2017) in a land far, far away (2.5 hours from LA), two tattooed baddies were both dumb enough to accept summer jobs in the crucible that is Palm Springs in July. Cara had a gig with the Palm Springs Film Festival and Rosemary at the Indio Public Defender. Concrete sizzled, tumbleweeds blew, and daily temperatures routinely exceeded 110°. Cara, who was born in Texas, attended high school in Saudi Arabia, and went to college in Arizona, was better equipped for such climates than Rosemary, who hails from Seattle and has never seen the sun. But they came out the other end, relocated to Los Angeles, and have been fast friends ever since.

Brian is Cooper's most responsible friend. Don't be fooled by his intimidating scowl; any friend of Brian knows he has a heart of gold (and yes, abs of steel). To make up for his previous life of injuring people on the football field and being kind of a dick to his twin brother Eric, he now tends to his community as a Physician in rural Wisconsin and admits that he loves his brother as much as we all do.
CJ Britz (he/they)

CJ has a special place in Rosemary's heart as her first friend in Los Angeles. From the alligator-filled rivers of Costa Rica to the dinosaurs of Cabazon, they are both passionate about stimulating local economies, and it's NOT a shopping addiction because they can literally stop anytime they want!!! When Cooper was planning to propose to Rosemary, it was CJ (and Betsy) who thought of the perfect ruse: lure Rosemary to the secret location by inviting her to a “pool party at a billionaire’s mansion.” Apparently she will say yes and let you drop her off anywhere in LA County without asking literally any questions! Fool me once…
Eric Kroll (he/him)

Growing up together, Cooper and Eric's friendship was mostly centered around pissing Brian off, which was very easy to do. But over time, Eric's friends have found in him a sort of wisdom that's hard to put a finger on. Today, Cooper might turn to Eric for any form of advice, but always leaves with a sense of acceptance, care, and a laugh.
Betsy Bowman (she/her)

Some would recommend against going on an international trip with an acquaintance you just recently befriended. And they would not be wrong. Against these odds, Betsy and Rosemary became the best of friends when Rosemary tagged along on Betsy, CJ, and Samson's trip to Portugal. Betsy's enthusiasm is infectious, her kindness and warmth undeniable. If she ever sends you a text message devoid of exclamation points, you can be sure Betsy has been Taken and that message was from her kidnapper. A therapist, Betsy is Rosemary's go-to for deep conversations about the heart and mind.

When they were younger, the only records that Chuck and Cooper may have broken in Call of Duty were the number of Xbox controllers smashed in frustration. Today they prefer the golf course and are mostly able to refrain from smashing the clubs. We've come a long way together. Like all close friends of Chuck's, Cooper values the way that Chuck's big laugh (you'll hear it), great stories, and set of trademarked expressions add a whole dimension to time spent together, in a way seemingly only Chuck can.
Cassidy Cavanah (she/her)

I bet you thought having a lot of lawyer friends was a red flag. But did you know Rosemary has an equal number of therapist friends? She and Cassidy met freshman year at Scripps College, studied abroad together in London, and maintain a friendship that not even the foggiest San Francisco summer day can chill. Some would call Cassidy a ray of sunshine personified. She brings island vibes with her, no matter how far she is from her hometown of Honolulu. If she shares any embarrassing stories about Rosemary, that is a HIPAA violation and you must alert the authorities!
Ryan Grych (he/him)

Ryan and Cooper began their friendship in middle school, where the two of them created elaborate fictional realities until bursting into laughter and disrupting pretty much every class they had together. Today, they basically do the same thing whenever they're on the phone together. Professionally, Ryan employs these skills more responsibly by outwitting his opponents in the courtroom. But as a dear friend, Cooper knows that when he needs to feel a little better... one call, that's all!
Hadley Morris (she/her)

Hadley and Rosemary's friendship begins where all beautiful stories begin: the public defender's office in the beautiful city of Van Nuys, California, just steps from where Cher Horowitz was robbed while wearing an Alaïa. They've come a long way from their formative years as tween dorks rooting for Alanna to become the first woman knight in the kingdom of Tortall (iykyk). Proof that having a January birthday builds character, they are now two completely normal adults who decorate for Christmas in October, which is normal, like I said!! Hadley recently became a mom to her first baby, a beautiful boy named Otis.
Daniel Kurek (he/him)

Cooper figured everyone at MIT would be a lame nerd and he might not make any friends in grad school. When they met and became instant best buds, Dan dispelled Cooper of that concern so thoroughly that Cooper felt he was looking in a mirror in some ways. You may find the two deep in conversation, either about a highly technical engineering topic or (more likely) an absolutely ridiculous string of jokes that somehow only they find funny. Either way, it's probably best to leave them alone.
Rebekah Merrill-Callaway

Rosemary and Rebekah first recognized each other's realness during a workplace debate in which a colleague dismissed Yayoi Kusama's work as "just a bunch of dots." Between Rebekah's art knowledge (gleaned from her past life in the NYC gallery world) and Rosemary's disdain, said colleague was quickly schooled in the error of his ways. An appreciation for history, science, and dark humor made them fast friends. Rebekah's bygone pop culture allusions may go unappreciated at times. But with Rosemary to bridge the gap, she has cemented her status as a "cool mom" to her teenage children (rather than a made-up and completely hypothetical uncool mom who thought SMH was pronounced "smeh!").

Minnesota born, Wisconsin educated, Boston for advanced degrees... after cocktail hour there's no telling what kind of weird and slightly disconcerting accent will start coming out of Austin. Still grieving the loss of this talented engineer to business school, Cooper at least knows he can trust Austin for sincere friendship, a lot of laughs, and unfortunately also a lot of puns.
Sémone Kessler (she/her)

As the ancient LA proverb goes: Date someone from the Midwest! Both Sémone and Rosemary followed this sacred wisdom to lock down Mason and Cooper as their respective husbands before the city could turn them into douchebags. An LA-born, USC-bred (boo!) architect, Sémone "knows a guy" for everything. Her contagious optimism keeps spirits high, even when their "relaxing" three-hour boat ride in Croatia turned into a harrowing, seven-hour slog. Those familiar with Cooper and Rosemary lore know they briefly split in 2020. But only true fans know the pivotal role Sémone played in their reunion. Cooper cooked up a scheme to win Rosemary back with a gallant beach picnic. When he found himself in the Whole Foods cheese aisle in a panic, he called Sémone for help. When he was ready to ask Rosemary to marry him, Cooper knew that Sémone's vision and taste were crucial to pull off the perfect surprise proposal. In Sémone we trust! Given the role she’s played in our love story, it's truly fitting that Sémone be the one to officiate our ceremony as we commit to each other for good!
