Question

💍 What is a traditional Igbo wedding?

Answer

A traditional Igbo wedding (called Igba Nkwu) is a colorful cultural celebration from Southeastern Nigeria. It’s full of symbolic rituals, drumming, dancing, and blessings from family and community. During the ceremony, the bride formally presents her groom to her family and community, and everyone celebrates with music, food, and joy.

Question

🇭🇹 How will Haitian traditions be included?

Answer

Haiti is all about music, color, and community, and we’re so excited to bring that into our day! You’ll notice touches of Roseline’s Haitian heritage in the food, the music, and the atmosphere. Think lively rhythms, flavorful dishes, and a whole lot of joy.

Question

💸 What is “spraying”?

Answer

Spraying is a West African tradition where guests “spray” money onto the couple while they dance. It’s a way to bless the couple with prosperity and to keep the dance floor full of energy! Don’t stress — small bills are perfect, and it’s all about fun and celebration.

Question

👗 What should I wear?

Answer

    •    Ceremony: Our church ceremony is semi-formal (cocktail attire or Sunday best).     •    Reception: Go bold! Elegant gowns or suits are welcome. Some guests will wear traditional African attire (like Igbo gele headwraps or isiagu shirts) and others may wear colorful, island-inspired Haitian styles. If you’d like to join in, please do — the more vibrant, the better. Please avoid wearing the colours emerald green, gold and white.     •    Pro tip: bring dancing shoes. You’ll need them!

Question

🍴 What kind of food will be served?

Answer

We’ll have a mix of Nigerian, Haitian, and North American favorites. Expect jollof rice, griot (Haitian fried pork), plantains, grilled meats, hearty stews, alongside classic dishes like pasta and salads. Come ready to eat!

Question

🕺 Will there be dancing?

Answer

Yes! Both Igbo and Haitian celebrations are famous for their dancing. Between the DJ, live drumming, and cultural performances, the dance floor will be full all night long. Don’t worry if you don’t know the steps — just jump in and have fun.
