Things To Do

We chose San Antonio for several reasons and cannot wait to share this incredible city with our guests. Why do we love San Antonio? Eric went to college here at University of Texas. We love all the various food that is available. Most importantly, the city beautifully blends Hispanic and American culture, which is something we strive for in our relationship. Below are the things we love to do everything we come to this incredible city. Feel free to use this a starting point to plan your time in San Antonio. We have listed a his and her favorite for each location to help you decide where to explore first.

San Antonio Zoo

3903 North Saint Mary's Street, San Antonio, TX 78212
, (210) 734-7184

One of our first dates was Christmas Lights at the Zoo in Indianapolis. Thus, the zoo has a special place in our hearts. Every time we come we have to see the animals at this incredible zoo. Her favorite to see: the giraffes and the speckled bear. His favorite to see: tiger

Historic Market Square

514 West Commerce Street, San Antonio, TX 78207
, (210) 207-8600

One cannot go to San Antonio without experiencing the rich culture. Historic Market is a great place to do it. Historic Market is where Eric introduced Cassandra to the incredible treat of cajeta (caramel made with goat milk). Get the Cajeta dipping sauce when at the Churro stand! Another recommendation to see here is the baked goods at the Mi Terria bakery! All kinds of pastries and sweets are available to snack on. Her favorite: Marranitos- gingerbread flavored pigs His favorite: Chorizo and Egg Torta - chorizo and egg sandwich In honor of Eric's dad: try his favorite pastry - chocolate concha, which is a round sweet bread

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park

6701 San Jose Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214
, (210) 534-8875

This park is made up of four World Heritage sites that are easily drivable or one can bike between each one. Each mission site is where native people of South Texan went to learn how to become Spaniards in the 1700s. At the mission site, they learned Spanish, received housing, water, and adopted a new way of life. This was done to combat the harsh environment and droughts experienced in Texas. Adopting a new way of life was felt to be the best chance to overcome the difficulties at that time. His favorite- the Espada Mission architecture Her favorite- the still functioning church at Espada Mission

Historic Pearl

303 Pearl Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78215

This is a historic brewery that has been revamped. It contains several shops, restaurants, outdoor areas to sit. It also connects to the river walk for more walking and river views. We enjoy the pearl for outdoor dinner, quick tacos, baked goods at Bakery Lorraine, and local shopping. His favorite: having a beer at the riverwalk Her Favorite: Mexican Hot Chocolate Cookie at Bakery Lorraine
