Chicago Midway Airport, located on the south side of Chicago, will be a shorter drive to South Bend than Chicago's O'Hare Airport. It typically takes about 1.5 hours to drive. All major airlines fly into MDW. There is also a Coach USA bus available that can take you to South Bend/Notre Dame's campus if you do not plan to rent a car. You can also take the South Shore Line Train from Millenium Station to South Bend.

Chicago O'Hare is located on the north side of Chicago. All major airlines fly here. This is about a 2-hour drive to South Bend. Coach USA offers a bus to South Bend from here as well; the South Shore Line Train is also an option.
