Covid-19 Wedding Update

Here's what we're thinking given the current pandemic.

As you may have seen in our e-mail notes, we still plan to marry on May 2, 2020. However, given the covid-19 crisis, we will not be able to join in a celebration with all of our guests for some time. For now, we ask that you save the date for Sunday, May 9, 2021 for our wedding celebration in South Bend. We hope to see you then!

How We Met

First comes grad school, then comes marriage.

We met at graduate school at the University of Notre Dame in the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Program. Will had returned from his first year of teaching third grade in Tulsa for his second summer of coursework at ND, and Erin was beginning her classwork in preparation for teaching middle school math and science in Oklahoma City. Since they would both head to Oklahoma come the fall, Will came over to introduce himself to Erin at a BBQ. Erin's first thought was, "My! He's friendly!" After a trivia night and a few nights out dancing, Will asked Erin if she wanted to go to Five Guys Burgers and Fries for a meal. We've been together ever since!

The Proposal

On a frigid February day...

Scene 1: Will and Erin date for 5+ years. Scene 2: Erin consistently asks, "When are we getting engaged?!" for 5+ years. Scene 3: Will wakes up on Sunday, February 10th, 2019 and decides, "Today is the day!" Scene 4: Will and Erin head to Saint Pat's Park to trek along their favorite hiking trail on the Saint Joe River. Scene 5: Erin gets pretty frustrated on the walk, confused why they would be spending their time out on a hike instead of getting engaged. She even says, "Well, obviously that's not happening today." She gets more agitated when Will confirms she should definitely not change her dinner plans with a friend. Scene 6: Will smiles. Scene 7: They sit down on a bench overlooking the river, and Will pulls the ring out of his coat. Scene 8: She says, "Yes!"

Note from the Couple

We're so grateful and excited to celebrate our marriage with you! We hope to see you in South Bend in May! Love, Will and Erin
