On a random Wednesday, September 5th, 2018, fate brought two groups of friends to the same place — karaoke night at The Blind Donkey in downtown Long Beach. As the clock struck midnight, one of Leo’s friends began to sing “Fly Me to the Moon.” The lights dimmed, the crowd swayed, and couples began to dance around the room. In a small panic, Leo turned to make his exit—only to find Rosa standing next to him. Without a word, he smiled, extended his hand, and asked her to dance. Rosa accepted by reaching her hand, and just like that, they shared their very first dance together. Still without speaking, the song ended with a smooth, classic dip. They looked into each other’s eyes and laughed. She says it was the dip that did it; he says it was love at first sight. Either way, that unexpected night became the beginning of their story.
