Things To Do and Places to Eat

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220

Free admission art museum with outdoor sculpture garden and cafe. There are special exhibitions that require a fee, but there is plenty to see in the permanent exhibits.

Maymont

Maymont

Richmond, VA

This is the location of the ceremony and reception, but we recommend exploring the grounds during the day if you have time. Maymont is free admission with free parking at either the Children's Farm, Nature Center, or on neighborhood streets. The park has a variety of animals in outdoor exhibits including farm animals, a bobcat, a black bear, and birds of prey. We highly recommend exploring the Japanese Garden. Unfortunately, the Maymont Mansion is closed for renovations. Important Note: The cocktail hour will be in the Nature Center exhibit area, so there is no need to go ahead of time/pay for this. We will have it all to ourselves in the evening!

Scott's Addition Brewery Crawl

Scott's Addition Brewery Crawl

Richmond, VA 23230

Many breweries in this area. Our favorites are The Veil, Ardent, and Vasen.

Triple Crossing Beer - Fulton

5203 Hatcher Street, Richmond, VA 23231

Our favorite brewery in Richmond! The Falcon Smash is RVA's signature beer, but get the Clever Girl if it's available. The downtown location is closer, but the Fulton location provides a beautiful view of the city.

Carytown

Carytown

Richmond, VA 23221

This is a great area to walk around with many boutique shops and restaurants. Some of our favorite spots are Mongrel (cards and knick-knacks), One Eyed Jacques (board games), Dog Krazy (dog and cat stuff), Zorch (pizza), Fuel Pump (coffee), Tokyo Market, and Fire and Hops (sit down pizza place off Cary). Plan to park off of Cary Street.

Belle Isle

Belle Isle

Richmond, VA

Nice walking trail in Downtown Richmond. The pedestrian bridge provides views of the City and of the James River. The Isle is fun to explore. Plan to spend at least an hour.

Coffee in Scott's Addition

We recommend Roastology, Blanchard's or Afterglow. All are a short walk from the Courtyard.

Fuel Pump

3200 West Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23221

Our favorite coffee shop. Inventive drink specials. They have really nice dishware if you drink at the shop (if you care about that kind of thing like we do).

Idle Hands Bread Company

407 Strawberry Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Pastries near where Simone and Roop live. Come near opening time for the best selection. Vegan and non-vegan options!

Zorch Pizza

2923 West Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23221

Grab a slice! You can also online order an entire pizza. We love the vegan specials. No GF pizza unfortunately :(

Cobra Cabana

901 West Marshall Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Great for sandwiches, burgers, and drinks. We love the Nashville hot tofu and vegan chopped cheese. Wild bar scene at night but chill during the day.

Union Market

2306 Jefferson Avenue, Richmond, VA 23223

Great lunch spot with seating outside and limited seating inside. We love the Tempeh Bahn Mi and Vegan Club. Nice variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Peter Chang

2816 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23230

Chinese food in Scott's Addition. Do not miss the dry fried eggplant. There is also another location near Simone's parent's house.

Lehja Restaurant

11800 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23233

Indian restaurant we love in Short Pump Mall (near Simone's parents).

For all the days along the way
