A few months before we officially met, we technically already met… and it was not exactly love at first sight. Maddie was at Ronnie’s house hanging out with his roommates when Ronnie was on his way back from a wrestling tournament. On the drive home, he got a text from his roommate that confidently read: “Don’t worry boys, I got women over.” Those “women” were Maddie and her friend Shelby… sitting silently on the couch, while his roommates sat across from them on his phone. No music. No conversation. Just vibes. Ronnie walked in, took one look at the situation, said a quick “what’s up,” and immediately retreated to his room. So yeah… sparks were flying. Naturally, that’s when Maddie knew he was the one. Just kidding. The actual love story begins thanks to our persistent friend Nathan Conley. Maddie had known Nathan for years, and one night he convinced her and their friend Emily to go to the Colonial Inn for karaoke. By pure coincidence, it was also Ronnie’s birthday. Nathan, who had never successfully played matchmaker before, suddenly decided this was his moment. He would not stop begging Maddie to text Ronnie “happy birthday.” Maddie repeatedly refused because… why would she text a random guy happy birthday? Nathan took that personally. Over the next few weeks, Nathan was Snapchatting Maddie—mainly pictures of Ronnie. Eventually, Maddie gave in and asked what they were doing. Nathan invited her to come hang out and the party Ronnie’s house was throwing and, of course, this night leads us back at the Colonial Inn. At the end of the night, Maddie drove everyone home and accidentally backed into a pole. Ronnie, being the kind and supportive guy he is, immediately reassured her that there was absolutely no damage. The next morning determined that was a lie. There was, in fact, a very large yellow scrape. But despite the awkward first meeting, Nathan’s relentless matchmaking, and a minor hit-and-run (on a pole)… something actually stuck. And the rest is history 🤍
