We have gone to the zoo a couple times since living in Houston and we LOVE it, and they do this cool thing where you can go to the zoo on the first Tuesday of the month for free as long as you reserve it the week ahead when tickets open up. We highly recommend if you want to go into the city!
We always saw Hermann park (and Memorial Park) as the Central Parks of Houston. Hermann park is right next to The Houston Zoo and definitely recommend their Japanese Garden, McGovern Centennial Gardens, going on the peddle boats, or even the Hermann Park Railroad!
This is an amazing Peruvian Bakery! We love getting sweet treats from Sweets by Belen, it's nice feeling so close to Peruvian culture here is Houston. If you're feeling like a sweet treat, we highly recommend! BONUS: if you read our proposal story, this was one of the stops!
We love going on walking dates at this park! We have been able to see how it has grown in the three years we've lived here and how it's continued to grow.
Now, this mall is massive, no exaggeration! When we first came to tour Houston we were in awe with the size of this mall; there really is such a thing as Texas-size! We know that some of our loved ones will be here for an extended amount of time so this would be a great stop if you want to see anything from your normal mall shopping, the ice-skating rink or their food court that's basically the whole lower level! (and we promise there's better options than your typical mall food court; our favs are La Madeleine and the sushi spot!)
A great breakfast/brunch spot!
