Ronin and Veronica met in their college dorm building in the spring of 2018. Ronin had been suitemates with Veronica's friend group, but none of them had actually met until their second semester of freshman year when Ronin got a new roommate who introduced everyone. A silly fact: Veronica had actually tried to hit on Ronin when they first met, but Ronin was in a previous relationship at the time, so Veronica brushed it off. They would casually hang out with her friends (his suitemates) and his roommate. When they came back from summer break, entering their sophomore year, Ronin and Veronica quickly became closer and eventually became best friends. Ronin had come back from break single, so at this time, both of them were very excited to explore college life in their own ways, knowing they had their best friend to be there for each other. People always say that friendship is the best foundation for a relationship, and we have come to learn the truth behind that with every passing year together. Eventually, Ronin and Veronica's friendship turned into something more, and they became an official couple on 12/3/18. Ronin and Veronica have now been together for over six years and eloped on 10/4/24 in an intimate ceremony with their immediate families. In the past six years, they have grown, learned, had many adventures together, and enjoyed many life milestones. We are very excited to celebrate our love story with you on our one-year anniversary as husband and wife! <3
Ronin woke up early that day and told Veronica that he was going to H-E-B for breakfast stuff. Veronica thought it was odd because he had his backpack (he very much tried to sneak away before Veronica woke up). Ronin texted Veronica, telling her that whenever she was ready, she should go out to the kitchen. There was a handwritten note that told her to get ready for an adventure that was about to begin, and to head to Starbucks. Veronica quickly realized that she had none of her makeup, and she was only 95% sure it was in a pouch at work. So, she got ready as much as she could, drove to the bank to grab her makeup, and finished doing it in her car before heading to Starbucks. After picking up the pre-ordered drink and a rose Ronin had left for her, she got back into her car. She then called Ronin, and he told her to go back inside since they had forgotten the next note. As Veronica went to get the note, she locked herself out of her car—car running and everything inside. Luckily, she was able to call him back, and he had to leave his secret location, driving 20 minutes back to the apartment to grab the spare key (thank you, parents, for giving Veronica those! This was not the first time this had happened to her) and drove to her to open the car. “You saw nothing,” he said as he got out of his car, all well-dressed. The note said to go to the Peruvian bakery Sweets by Belen to pay homage to Veronica's culture. There, the owner gave her the next note, another rose, and a box of alfajores. The note then expressed that the next location was somewhere new for them but would forever hold meaning. Veronica drove to a park near downtown and walked over to where Ronin was. He stood under a mossy tree (something they both love) and had placed the remaining rosebuds into the tree, as well as sprinkled the petals on the ground surrounding them. This is where this very thoughtful and unplanned series of events came together for Ronin to get down on one knee and propose to Veronica.
