We're Getting Married!

Our first date was at Five Lamps Tavern on the Upper West Side. We talked about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Ryan loves it, Becca not as much) the ending of How I Met Your Mother (Ryan loves it, Becca not as much) and Chicago-style pizza (Becca loves it, Ryan not as much). After drinking Schlafly beer at a wobbly table and trying unsuccessfully to order food (they were out of everything we asked for), we said goodbye and then awkwardly realized we were both taking the 2/3 train downtown. Luckily, the easy conversation continued on the subway where we laughed and talked about our favorite bands. Later that night at his ten-year high school reunion, Ryan texted Becca twice about what a good time they'd had. Becca was charmed and it was the beginning of something wonderful.

One Thursday night after watching TV together, Becca was washing dishes when Ryan came over and turned off the podcast she was listening to. Becca didn't understand why Ryan wanted so much attention until she turned around and saw him down on one knee. Completely unbeknownst to her, Ryan had been very nervous the whole Christmas week they had spent together in St. Louis because he was getting ready to talk her to parents and ask them for her great-grandma's ring, which he used to propose. Becca's first response was confusion and asking "Is this real?!?" followed by a very enthusiastic yes. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in St. Louis!
