Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kristi Faulkner and Richard De Palma
Rome is an open-air museum, and you never know when you will stumble upon ancient site or a movie scene. At the Piazza del Popolo, you are 3 minutes from Via Margutta, the charming street where Picasso and Fellini lived and where Audrey Hepburn hid out in Roman Holiday. Another 3 minute walk brings you to the Spanish Steps and Via Condotti. A gentle climb through the Pincian gardens delivers sunset views over Rome, while the leafy paths of Villa Borghese lead you to the most stunning sculptures you can imagine. From the Piazza del Popolo, keep ambling for a relaxed 15 minutes and you’ll wander past the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Campo de Fiori and the Piazza Navona. Cross the river for Castel Sant’Angelo and St Peter’s Basilica. Our favorite days in Rome are all about walking aimlessly from piazza to piazza, stopping for a gelato or a spritz whenever the urge strikes, and people watching. Here are some of our favorite for dolce far niente - the art of doing nothing.
Galleria Borghese

Galleria Borghese

5 Piazzale Scipione Borghese, Italy

Our personal must‑see is this incredible gallery, nestled inside the park about a 15 min walk from the Piazza de Popolo or the Spanish Steps. Entry is strictly by timed reservation. Only 180 people are admitted every two hours, so book ahead on the official site. The gallery is open Tuesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m., with the last entry at 5 : 45 p.m.; your slot gives you two full hours with Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne, Canova’s Pauline Borghese, Caravaggio’s still‑life drama, and room after room of Renaissance and Baroque splendor.
