On July 30, 2017, one of Sean’s best friends (and best man—Omari) brought him along to a Sunday brunch at his friend's place in Los Angeles. Being the extrovert that Sean is, he was super social and excited to get to know everyone there, including an introvert (aka Eduardo) who he thought brought his girlfriend. Fast-forward many glasses of rosé later, a group trip to a rooftop bar in the evening, and a revelation of who Eduardo was really into, Eduardo made the first move and kissed Sean. At the end of the night, Sean made the second move and asked him out on a real date—for the very next day. They went on dates every day for the next three days until Sean left for a solo trip to Toronto. Sean loved being around him, but because Eduardo lived in San Francisco, he thought he was just a summer crush that he’d have to get over. Sean also vowed that he would never be in a long-distance relationship ever again, but when he was looking up the details for his return flight from Toronto, he noticed that he had a late layover in San Francisco. Worried about the distance and effort, Sean reached out to Eduardo and asked if he lived close to the airport, to which Eduardo replied he would make the drive to meet Sean, “even if it's just for 5 seconds." When Sean got off the plane and headed to baggage claim, the doors opened up and when he saw Eduardo, Sean immediately got butterflies and realized that this wasn't just a summer crush. After hugging for what felt like an eternity, Eduardo informed Sean that his flight was delayed. Out of all the flight options, there was only one that made sense to Sean: Take the flight that left first thing in the morning. As they say, the rest is history.
