The year was 2012 when we first met. Spring semester rolled around in school and that only means one thing, Spring Break! It just so happened that we both decided to celebrate our Spring Break the same way; on a service learning trip to the Dominican Republic through our college, Regis University. We both were interested in traveling and helping others, so this seemed like a great way to spend our time. We had never met before this trip but became friends right away. We knew this friendship had a chance when we found out we both loved Duke basketball. Throughout our time on the trip, we spent more time getting to know each other as friends. As soon as the trip was over and we were back in Denver, our friendship grew into a new relationship. Now 6 years later, we are both so thankful for this trip that brought us together and cannot wait to become husband and wife and make new memories and adventures together.

We are both born and raised in Colorado, yet there were still some places we had never visited within the state. Ever since we met, we both talked about going to Aspen to hike the Maroon Bells trail. However, time was not on our side and life gets busy. Out of the blue, we decided to have a small get away from work and finally hike Maroon Bells. We woke up early Saturday morning and watched the sunrise as we arrived to the trailhead. The first view was completely breathtaking, so we took some pictures. Eric had a great idea to set a timer on his phone in order to get a full view of us and the mountains. Little did Megan know, he was actually videotaping the proposal. After the hike, Eric had one more surprise for Megan and took her into Aspen where both our families were waiting to celebrate the engagement!
