Regulations regarding prescription medications vary and are strictly enforced. We strongly request that each traveler personally contact their airline or/and the U.S. Embassy / Consulate to confirm what medications are permitted for travel to and entry into India. We recommend that you do this as soon as possible. This verification MUST BE DONE BY YOU before departure. Please ensure you: - Carry only medications that are permitted - Travel with original prescriptions and required medical documentation - Bring quantities appropriate for personal use Unfortunately, we will not be able to assist, intervene, or take responsibility for any issues arising from medications carried without proper verification or documentation. What airport should I fly into?

Please book your flights to Cochin International Airport (COK) in Kerala. We’ll coordinate pickup and transport to Shoranur from there.

When should I plan to arrive?

Answer

We recommend arriving on or by January 28, 2026, to rest and acclimate before the festivities begin. Accommodations will be available through February 2, and we’re happy to assist and provide recommendations if you’d like to extend your stay.

Entry and Exit Requirements for U.S. Citizens?

Answer

1. Valid U.S. passport 2. Valid Indian visa or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card to enter and exit. 3. Arrival form. From October 2025 all foreign travelers entering India have the option to submit an electronic arrival form instead of the traditional paper form. The e-arrival form can be filled out and submitted online through the Indian visa website (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ up to 72 hours prior to travel.

How to keep the travel documents safe?

Answer

1. Keep copies of your U.S. passport data page, Indian visa, and Indian immigration stamps with you at all times. 2. Save these documents on your mobile phone in case of emergency. 3. If your passport is lost or stolen, your copies will help you apply for a replacement passport and an exit permit from the Indian government.

What Documents to Carry (Very Important) Each traveler carrying prescription meds should have: 1. Original prescription (paper and digital) 2. Doctor’s letter including: 3. What should I wear to the ceremonies?

Don't worry: we’ve got you covered (literally!). You are free to wear the clothing of your choice for the event on January 30th. (NB: You will be dancing to the beats this day, so wear whatever makes you feel comfortable) We’ll be providing traditional Indian outfits for Wedding Day (February 1), along with accessories and optional floral adornments. These are traditional tops that you can wear with your jeans/pants/skirts.

Can I wear shoes inside homes or venues?

Answer

In many homes and some traditional venues, it’s customary to remove your shoes at the entrance. Watch what others do or ask when in doubt—we'll guide you if it's required at wedding venues.

Is there anything I should know about visiting temples in Kerala?

Answer

Yes—Kerala temples are sacred spaces, and certain etiquette is expected: (a) Remove shoes before entering temple grounds. (b) Dress modestly—cover shoulders and knees. (c) In some temples, non-Hindus may not be permitted inside the inner sanctum. If that applies, a guide will let you know gently. (d) Photography is often restricted—please ask before taking pictures.

Is it okay to touch or hug people when greeting them?

In Kerala, especially among elders or people you're meeting for the first time, physical contact is usually minimal. It’s best to greet with a smile or a "Namaskaram." Save hugs for close friends or family who initiate it!

How do people generally behave during rituals?

Speaking loudly or interrupting rituals during ceremonies may be seen as disrespectful. Feel free to ask us if you’re unsure—locals are incredibly warm and welcoming when approached with curiosity and respect.

Not at all! Keralites are generally very open and happy to share their traditions. As long as you ask with respect and genuine curiosity, you’ll be met with kindness and warmth.

Most places have good mobile coverage and Wi-Fi. You can also purchase an affordable local SIM card at the airport if you like.

Will food be available at the hotel?

Yes. Your hotel has a multi-cuisine restaurant with both Indian and international options. - Breakfast is complimentary at the hotel - Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options will be available

What if I’m not used to Indian food or have dietary concerns?

That’s completely okay. - Hotels and selected restaurants will offer milder, familiar options - Rice, breads, lentils, grilled items, fruits, and yogurt are widely available - Stick to boiled water (available at all restaurants) or bottled water

Can I eat outside the hotel on my own?

Yes, but we recommend: - Eating at hotel restaurants or vetted locations - Avoiding street food unless arranged as part of a group outing
