Mehndi is a temporary decoration using henna paste traditionally applied to women on their hands or feet. It is applied by a professional mehndi artist and can be as small, big, simple or intricate as you like. Various designs can symbolize joy, beauty, prosperity, success, or have many other meanings. It is completely voluntary so give it a try if you'd like!
A Baraat is the Groom's procession. It consists of live music and dancing alongside the Groom as he enters the ceremony. Both men and women and both friends and family on the Groom's side can participate.
The easiest way to get around San Diego is using Rideshare apps like Uber and/or Lyft. We don't recommend renting a car during the wedding weekend since you'll have to pay for parking and won't need it for the wedding events. If you're extending your trip and exploring San Diego, you may want to rent a car after the wedding.
Springtime in San Diego will likely be warm on sunny days but chilly in the evening. Definitely bring a light jacket and layers. For the wedding itself, all are welcome to wear traditional Indian or American clothing styles. In terms of formality, men, think suits with optional tie. Ladies, a nice dress or skirt is great. Again, it will be chilly at night so factor that in.
We don't have one! Your attendance at the wedding is the only gift we need and we appreciate how so many of you are coming from so far away! If you feel like sharing even more, we appreciate anything you're willing to give but kindly request no boxed gifts.
