Things To Do

NYC has world-famous attractions: Times Square, Broadway, the Empire State Building, Central Park, One World Trade, the Met...the list goes on. However, we encourage guests to visit other great attractions with less name recognition. If you don't spend at least part of your trip in the outer boroughs, particularly our home borough of Brooklyn, you're missing out!

Museum of the Moving Image

36-01 35th Avenue, Astoria, NY 11106
, (718) 777-6800

A visit to this museum takes only half a day and it offers lots of interactive exhibits great for kids. They also regularly host movie screenings if you're looking to make a day out of it.

Museum of the City of New York

1220 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10029
, (212) 534-1672

Kaitlyn's favorite museum. Learn more about the greatest City in the world!

NY Dosas

50 Washington Square South, New York, NY 10012
, (917) 710-2092

Check out this world-famous dosa cart in Washington Square Park, an unofficial part of NYU's campus.

Khiladi NYC

175 Avenue B, New York, NY 10009
, (646) 791-0351

A fun new Indian restaurant in the East Village.

Prospect Park Zoo

450 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11225
, (718) 399-7339

The much smaller and chiller alternative to the Bronx Zoo. Kaitlyn spent a summer in high school as a docent here and loved it. Spend half a day here and then check out one of our other recommendations in the area!

Prospect Park

Brooklyn, NY 11225

Picnic, rent a bike, rollerskate, boat on the lake, or just wander through beautiful forests and fields on winding walking paths.

Barboncino Pizza

781 Franklin Avenue, Crown Heights, NY 11238
, (718) 483-8834

This is where Rohaan popped the question! A great place for pizza and cocktails--sit outside if it's not too hot or take it to-go to the park. They've got a gelato window too if you're just looking for dessert.

Brooklyn Museum

200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11238
, (718) 638-5000

PLG Coffee House and Tavern

499 Rogers Avenue, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, NY 11225
, (347) 413-7944

Kaitlyn's go-to breakfast spot. Her usual: BEC + Avacado on a cheddar and chive biscuit.

New York City Hall

New York, NY 10007
, (212) 639-9675

The home of NYC's government and where Kaitlyn worked for four years! Ask for a tour or just enjoy City Hall Park before walking over the Brooklyn Bridge, which is right around the corner.

New York Aquarium

602 Surf Avenue, Coney Island, NY 11224
, (718) 265-3474

As a child Kaitlyn spend many summer days with a morning at the beach and an afternoon at the Aquarium. Beautifully renovated after Hurricane Sandy, this Aquarium is worth the trip, and there's plenty more to do in Coney Island when you're done.

Coney Island

Brooklyn, NY

Come for the beach, the amusement park rides, the Wonder Wheel, the brewery, the little league baseball (the Cyclones), Nathan's hot dogs, or do it all. There's nothing more quintessentially summer in NYC than Coney Island, in Kaitlyn's humble opinion.
