We are one of those lucky couples who gets to share that we met the romantic, endearing, old fashioned way - Tinder. The actual "date" is still up for debate, but we can agree that it was the first week in December. With the craziness of the holidays and the lack of energy around dating, I had already cancelled multiple times, but a friend insisted this would be probably one of my last chances and I needed to go for it. I feel pretty lucky I did because Roger claims he had decided this was his last attempt. As the date kicked off that night, the overwhelming crowd of after-work holiday-party-goers at Butch McGuire's moved us across the street to a much quieter Hopsmith, where we shared whiskey, neat, and met two kind women also looking for a good time. After a few drinks, the four of us headed back across the street where we owned the dance floor and I was introduced to Roger's stunner dance moves. In that moment, I felt myself falling for him over his confidence and fun nature. The memories from the night will last forever and always be the best first "date" ever. - Jenn Like the Hallmark movies say, magical things happen around the holidays. And for us, it was no different. As soon as I saw Jenn on the ole Tinder-machine, I was intrigued. She seemed like a fun, sweet person just from the pictures. She was also really really pretty. So when she blew me off multiple times, I decided it was worth it to stay persistent. And, as soon as I saw her walk into the crowded bar, I thanked myself for doing so. It didn't start off so great, she said "she was going to be nauseous" - but I responded by saying "I have that affect on women" - she laughed, and that was basically all she wrote. I've continued to thank myself every day since. - Roger
Just a few weeks after we first met, I was invited out to watch the Ohio State Bowl Game with Roger and his friend, Jason. This was also the first meeting with my now soon to be sister in law, Lauren :) It was one of the most fun days I have ever had, and it was the best start to the new year. With the festivities from the night before and the events of the day, we retired quite early. This led to both of us being wide awake at 3am. With nothing better to do at that hour, we decided on a marathon of George Lopez and stayed up until the early morning laughing and talking. It was one of the best "nights", and was the moment I knew I wanted to be with this man forever. Side note: he made me wait 3 more months before he would make it official as bf/gf!! - Jenn She stole my moment - Roger
I moved out to New York three months before Jenn did. In that time I made multiple trips to the jewelry store in hopes of finding the perfect ring. I finally got it a couple weeks before she arrived, but had no grand plans on how I would do it. I figured living in New York City there would be plenty of opportunities for a big romantic proposal. But after weeks of carrying a bulging ring box in my jeans and constantly sweating nervously, I still had no fiancé. When Jenn and I were getting ready to go back to Wisconsin for a college football game, I knew it was time to make my move. The morning of our flight Jenn went to her workout class. I decided I would ask her by putting notes (something I do every morning for her) Down our hallway. Each of which led to the question and me on one knee with our favorite song playing. Lucky for me, she said yes. - Roger
