Flight
You've got not one, not two, but FIVE airports you can fly into that are all roughly equidistant to Whittier. Yay! SNA, LGB, and ONT are the best. Every other airport is much, much worse. 💚 SNA (John Wayne) has great flight options, easy TSA, easy to exit + not as chaotic as LAX. Without traffic, a 40-ish minute drive to Whittier. 💚 LGB (Long Beach) is like SNA, but way cooler and a bit busier. Without traffic, a 30-ish minute drive to Whittier. 💚 ONT (Ontario) is like SNA, but the Inland Empire version. You might find the cheapest flights here, but is tied with the longest drive to Whittier (30 miles). 🤔 BUR (Burbank) is like if SNA and LAX had a baby. Small in size, but still in LA so difficult with driving. 45-ish minutes away from Whittier with no traffic. 😭 LAX is like hell on earth. If you can avoid it, please do - but if you have no other option, don't say we didn't warn ya! If you can make it to the welcome party, we recommend flying in on Thursday evening or Friday morning.
Hotel
If you'd like to hang out between events, the DoubleTree is the place to be. Click "View" to book from our hotel block. ***HOTEL BLOCK BOOKING WINDOW ENDS 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING, SO BE SURE TO BOOK SOON!*** A ~10 minute drive from the wedding, the DoubleTree will place you in Whittier's charming and walkable Uptown to easily explore cafes, restaurants, and shops in your downtime. For a comprehensive guide, check out this great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQQmm6-2YjI
House Or Rental
While the DoubleTree is where most of our out-of-town guests will be, you're welcome to seek out an Airbnb instead! We recommend either looking in Uptown Whittier (close to the hotel) or close to Friendly Hills (close to the wedding). If you're going to go through all this effort, at least get a pool so we can use it too ;-)
Rental Car
While having car access in Southern California is ideal, a rental car probably isn't necessary if you're staying local to Whittier—especially if you're planning to imbibe at wedding events. One less thing to worry about! If you'd like to extend your trip and explore beyond Whittier, a rental car (or Turo) is encouraged. Public transport is limited and long distance Uber/Lyfts can add up quickly.
