Walkway Over the Hudson State Park

83 North Water St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601

Just north of the Mid-Hudson Bridge, this pedestrian walkway has some of the prettiest views in the area! It can be accessed on either side of the river, and by an elevator near the Poughkeepsie waterfront. A very picturesque ~1 hour to walk across and back.

The Four Corners (Kingston Stockade District)

42 Crown St., Kingston, NY 12401

A cool bit of history - it is the only four-way intersection in the country where all four buildings (one at each corner) were built prior to the Revolutionary War. Nearby spots to check out include Rough Draft Bar and Books (a cool cafe/book store that also has beers and ciders on draft) and Sweet Maresa's (a delicious bakery). The Kingston Stockade District itself is a cute section of town with many cafes and shops. You can also stop by the waterfront, which is a few minute drive away.

If a New York City speakeasy were dropped into a small town in upstate New York, it would look exactly like this. Located on Main St. in Catskill, another town (village? hamlet?) worth exploring, though it is bit farther away. And yes, it has been taste tested (photo evidence above)

Hudson Valley Brewery

7 East Main St., Beacon, NY 12508

Located at the bottom of a hill on Beacon's Main St. this brewery makes the best Sours in New York state (in Seth's humble opinion). They also feature a food truck with some of the best wood fired pizza. We frequented Beacon when Rochelle was in Medical School, 30 minutes away. Our favorite nearby restaurants include Melzingah Tap House and Cafe Amarcord. A little farther up the road and also worth checking out is Glazed Over Donuts, if you are craving something sweet!

The Catskills

Adler Rd., Shandaken, NY 12416

Though we most prefer the Catskills when the mountains are covered by snow, we recommend driving through here for the beautiful foliage, forest scenery, and nature/mountain hikes! The pinned location relates to a Feder family history fun fact - Adler Road was named after Seth's paternal grandmother's family, who built the first house on the road!
