We worked together five years ago, while the Northerner Lisa learned of Southern hospitality from Robert. We produced five videos and promotional materials for a local non-profit and traveled around the Triangle with another colleague for photoshoots and interviews. Lisa moved back to New York City in 2014, and besides an occasional sharing of Wisconsin cheese curd photos on Facebook, we pretty much went about our own lives. In 2016, an opportunity to work together again arose, and we realized we were both at a time in our lives where our original friendship and collegiality—respect, cooperation, and inspiration—was a wonderful basis upon which to begin a new lifelong love letter. We choose each other as our partners in life, both attending graduate school for new health professional careers while working full-time, and blending our new family with three hundred pounds of dog: Sierra, Willoby, and Loki.
