If you are into the city scene, there is a plethora of activity in the metro Denver area. You can check out the Denver Zoo, Downtown Aquarium, or Botanical Gardens. There are numerous museums including the Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Denver Children's Museum, Meow Wolf, and the Museum of Illusion. Don't forget about Larimer Square and the 16th Street Mall which has a bunch of small shops and restaurants and is great for taking a stroll. And you can check out Union Station which is the hub for the trains and light rail, but it also has shops and restaurants. Finally, there are so many restaurants downtown, but we recommend La Loma in McGregor Square because it is one of our favorite places to eat and it is located across from Coors Field, where Kristen works!
Visit the iconic music venue while you are here! While you probably won't have time to see a concert, you can still check out the famous amphitheater or take a stroll on one of the many trails while admiring the beauty of the Colorado red rocks!
For those with a bit longer of a stay and those with an adventurous spirit, you can make the drive down to Colorado Springs to check out this natural beauty. There are several hiking trails allowing visitors to walk, run, or bike through beautiful rock formations. Don't forget to see the Kissing Camels! If you want to make a day of it, consider visiting Pikes Peak as well. This may be dependent on the weather, however. It should still be fine in early October, but the higher elevation may cause snow and closures. If you decide not to do Pikes Peak, there is also the Cave of the Winds which has many attractions and activities you can check out!
Colorado is home to over 400 craft breweries, so this is a beer lover's dream. Feel free to research and visit any of the local breweries, but we will provide two recommendations. First, the Breckenridge Brewery has some fantastic options so grab a flight and some food with friends and family. You could also check out the Coors Factory tour. This does require reservations, however, so if this interests you, make sure to plan ahead!
For those that love to shop, check out the outlets at Castle Rock. There are over 100 of the world's best brands at up to 70% off retail! You can also grab a bite to eat or check out any events that might be happening at the time. It is conveniently located on I-25 close to Castle Rock.
Any Colorado activity list would not be complete without Casa Bonita! And this is a must for any South Park lovers. This restaurant is a staple for Coloradans and has recently been revamped by the creators of South Park. Locals will say the food has vastly improved and it has many attractions including a magic show, a puppet show, caricaturists, arcade and game room, Black Bart's Cave, 6 separate bars, and the famous cliff divers. And don't forget about the sopapillas! Keep in mind, you will need reservations if you want to check it out.
