Maid of Honor
Taylor and I ~officially~ met on our official visit to the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The coach who recruited me to play for ULM told me I needed to work on getting Taylor to commit. So naturally, I harassed her via text message to go to ULM with me. After having the most fun on our official visit, she committed. Taylor and I were instant friends. Taylor and I lived together throughout our college years (I stayed a little longer so she wouldn’t miss me too much). There were many dance parties to Waka Flocka’s No Hands, runs to Walmart so I can get some cash to get into Rendezvous, epic movie nights complete with cookies, bottles of Svedka split between us, and nights that are a little fuzzy, but I’ll remember forever. Taylor was my rock throughout some of the toughest times of my life (playing college soccer, nursing school, failed relationships, etc.). Taylor and I have a natural connection where we know what we need from one another. Whether it’s a pep talk, a shoulder to cry on, advice that I should take but probably wouldn’t, or just sitting in silence together, Taylor knew what to do. When Rob called me his girlfriend without officially asking, I panic called Taylor. I was terrified and Taylor talked some sense into me and knew Rob was exactly the kind of guy I was waiting for. Taylor is the smartest, kindest, most beautiful friend a girl could ask for. I’m so thrilled to have Taylor stand next to me on the happiest day of my life.
Best Man
I met Fernando in 2007 when I began college at Stephen F. Austin State University. I pledged Sigma Chi while Fernando was already an Active, and low and behold was my neighbor in the dorm. Aside from making me be his personal alarm most days and being his designated driver during pledgeship, Fernando was more like a brother I never had. From always being the life of the party, a great wingman, and a shoulder to lean on, you could always count on Fernando to be there to lift me up and always encourage me to be the best I can be and to never settle for anything I don’t deserve! When Alyssa and I met, Fernando was one of the first friends I called and told, he was happy but wanted to make sure she was the one for me. When Alyssa and Fernando met for the first time, they hit it off and he told me, “ Don’t mess it up, she’s a keeper!” We’ve had many stories and adventures together that would have anyone crying from laughter, and I couldn’t imagine anyone else standing beside me when I marry the girl of my dreams!
