Rob was a chiropractic assistant at Hosmer Chiropractic Health. He then began personal training for Nike World Headquarters in April 2015 and left Hosmer. The very next month, Gillian began working as a massage therapist for the same chiropractor. They had just missed each other! Finally, in December 2015, Rob and Gillian were brought together by a mutual friend, Justin Jelen (who will be officiating their wedding), at a bar and restaurant called Saucebox in Downtown Portland. They sat across the table from each other and before long, it was as if no one else were in the room. They stayed there chatting (and drinking) for hours! In fact, they closed the place down and then made plans to see each other again the very next day. Quickly, they fell in love and became blissfully inseparable.
They had an incredible year of adventure, exploration, and pure love-- they hiked, snowboarded, backpacked, paddle boarded, sky dived, traveled, and made kick-ass memories together. Today was their 1-Year Anniversary as a couple, and Gillian woke up feeling 'different'. When she returned home from work that night, Rob had a romantic dinner waiting. What was intended to be a lovely evening, turned out to be the most life-altering, earth-shattering, surprising night of their lives.. THEY WERE PREGNANT!! And you know the rest; they now we have a beautiful, smart, strong boy. Emrik is the light of their lives and they couldn't imagine a world without him.
Rob and Gillian, now 5 months pregnant, flew to Georgia to attend the world renowned tournament, The Masters, at Augusta National Golf Club. Rob's brother, Kevin, and his girlfriend (now fiancé) Bianca, waited in line with them to take a professional picture in front of the famous Augusta Clubhouse. Soon, they all cheesed at the camera for a picture. Instead of leaving the camera's view however, Rob turned to Gillian, got down on one knee, and said these words, "I want a marriage with you, not just a wedding. I want a family with you, not just a baby. I want forever with you, not just a promise. With you and our child, I want to share 'a tradition unlike any other'. Gillian Camille Lewis, will you marry me?". Gillian said, "YES!" about 100 times in a row with tears of excitement shimmering across her face. From that moment on, they felt like the happiest, luckiest, wealthiest couple in the world.
