Located 30 mins from Gore Bay. Where Robert proposed to Alisha. The beginning portion is comfortable, but later portions of the trail have steep stairs and difficult climbs. From Ontariotrails.com: "Located 18 km West of Little Current at the junction of Hwy. 540 and Bidwell Rd. is the famous Cup and Saucer Trail. This is the Manitoulin Extension of the Niagara Escarpment, with 70 meter cliffs, over 2 km long. There are 12 km of hiking trails through the hardwood bush, as well as 2 km of adventure trails. This is one of the most popular trails in Ontario. With such numerous paths to choose from, you can select the one best suited to the time you have available (from 15 minutes to 4 hours), and the degree of difficulty desired."
Located 15 minutes from Gore Bay. Stairs down to a little pool and waterfall as well as a 3 km hike alongside the river to the marina in Kagawong. The salmon are often running at this time of year so you may even see a whole bunch of salmon in the river and at the base of the falls. The trail passes a small hydroelectric generating station and in town is a few tourist shops like a candy store and a chocolate shop. Nearby in Kagawong is the Main St. Cafe which has really great food. We especially like the sandwiches.
Right in town in Gore Bay! The Lake Huron waterside boardwalk runs from the marina, through town, and to our reception venue! The 3 lodgings in town are all less than a 5 min walk from the boardwalk. On one end of the boardwalk is the marina where you can find Split Rail Brewery, Finnia Chocolate & Cacao, Buoy's Eatery, and the Gore Bay Harbour Centre/Marine Museum. At the other end of the boardwalk is our reception venue, Watersedge Pub & Restaurant, and Inn at Gore Bay.
Split Rail Brewery is a local brewery at the Gore Bay marina. They offer a variety of craft beers and seating indoors or on an outdoor patio that overlooks the harbour. No food available unfortunately. Around back is Finnia Chocolate & Cacao chocolate shop. The Gore Bay boardwalk, which runs along the water through town and to Inn at Gore Bay/Water's Edge, starts just on the other side of the marina from Split Rail.
