Orlando International Airport (MCO)

MCO is Orlando’s main airport and is 20-25 minutes away (by car) to Lake Buena Vista (area where Disney & the wedding venue is located). Westjet has DIRECT roundtrip flights to Orlando from Calgary in the $400s. Book flights 4-6 months ahead for best pricing! Flights under $500-600/person are a good deal.

Tampa International Airport (TPA)

Flights to TAMPA BAY, FL may be CHEAPER! Mostly under $400 CAD (Round Trip). Tampa Bay, FL is approx 1.5 hours drive from Orlando, FL. Great side trip!

Best way to get around

The easiest & most convenient way to get around is to RENT A CAR. Florida roads are wide and well-maintained and there is lots of parking areas for your vehicle. Please ask your car rental company if you need a "Sunpass" if you are only staying in the Orlando area (probably not). If you are travelling to other FL Cities you will most likely need this electronic pass (approx $10/day) because you may drive through toll roads like the "FLORIDA TURNPIKE". With the Sunpass you will not need to stop at a toll gate, your license plate will be scanned as payment for these tolls. (fines for not paying tolls can be up to $500). ***Some hotels may have shuttles to/from the airport or to/from Disney.

Florida road tolls

IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING OUTSIDE OF ORLANDO may come across a toll along the highway. Some still accept cash (but many do NOT). Car rental places will help you activate the “Sunpass”. (Toll payment already connected to your car’s license plate). This way you can easily drive through the tolls without stopping! The cameras on tolls will catch your license plate so please activate the toll pass (about an additional $10/day on your rental). Fines for not paying a toll can be $500+

Florida will be full of sunshine (bring sunscreen, hats, glasses), HOT weather +30 degrees or more, but sometimes light rain. Pack comfortable shoes/clothes, hats, shades & sunscreen!
