I was just going to my cousin's friends apartment to pre-game and was feeling pretty cute in my Super Girl costume. Little did I know that I was on my way to meet Superman, or that I would ultimately end up marrying him (suck it Lois Lane)! We took one look at each other in our matching super hero costumes and agreed that it would be irresponsible, and a huge disservice to the general public, for us not to stick together the rest of the night just in case Lex Luther decided to get cute. Thankfully, nothing catastrophic happened that Halloween night, but we did realize how great of a team we made and from then on, as they say, the rest is history.
We can all agree that 2020 was a complete dumpster fire and if not for the pandemic canceling all of our plans we probably would've gotten engaged much earlier in the year. Whether he just grew impatient or he wanted to give 2020 some sort of redeeming quality I don't know but, on a foggy, slightly snowing evening RJ decided it was time to ask me to be his wife. So, while I was out getting my hair done he got to work decking our living room out with extra Christmas lights and waited (in his Superman shirt of course) to surprise me when I walked in the door. In true Ashley fashion, as soon as I realized what was happening the word vomit started spilling out of my mouth, but through the incessant 'what's happening's' and 'are you serious's' that I could not hold back he managed to ask me the question that was eight years in the making. So, underneath the glow of the Christmas lights illuminating my living room, I said yes to a lifetime.
