Snowball Express serves the children of fallen military heroes. The holidays can be especially challenging for grieving families. Each December, they host a 5 day experience for more than 1,750 children of fallen service members and their surviving parent or guardian. This therapeutic retreat has a blend of fun and inspiring programs where these families can lean on their peers for support. Kerri has been volunteering for Snowball since 2016 when she first moved to Texas and Jake has joined her since 2018.
1 in 11 people in New Hampshire don't know where their next meal is coming from. Jacob started volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank after seeing photos of more than 6,000 cars lined up to receive help on Thanksgiving in 2020. He plans to continue to support "Feeding America" in our new community.
During our Tanzanian adventure, we spent two nights at The Original Maasai Lodge. We got to throw spears with their warriors, track zebras on foot, and dance with the tribe at sunset. Perhaps our favorite part of our stay was that profits from the lodge are funneled back into the Maasai/Meru community to support healthcare, education, and social projects. We spent one afternoon at the orphanage, "Kindervilla", learning about their operation and playing soccer with the kids. We learned that the needs of their community are wide ranging, but so is the help they provide. One of the songs we sang with them have the following lyrics: Hallo, Lo, hallo malotie - which means though I am going now, I won't be gone forever. We left a piece of our hearts there and hope someday we can return.
