Kerri and Jacob met at Airventure in 2017. Kerri was volunteering with NATCA and Jacob had flown a T38 to the airshow for static display. NATCA hosted a cookout and invited all of the military attendees to thank them for their service. Jake grabbed a delicious plate and sat down at the picnic table with the cutest girl. After 5 minutes of talking to each other, Jake said, "Enough about me, want to see my airplane?" Off they went to Boeing Plaza to see his airplane. Jake bought her an icecream cone and she hair flipped her way into his heart!

Kerri had never seen the Milky Way, so on their trip to Moab, Utah, Jake decided to fix that. Arches National Park is a Dark Sky park, with excellent stargazing. On October 10th, 2020, they took chairs and take out Thai food to the Window Arches and set up for some stargazing. Kerri DID get to see the Milky Way, but that wasn't the only sparkles she saw. After reciting a bit of poetry from David Whyte, "a Blessing is a wish granted that (he) didn't even know he needed", Jake dropped to one knee, and under the stars and his headlamp, he asked her to marry him. "Yes! Of course!" was her response!
