To visit the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, take a passenger ferry from Harkers Island or Beaufort, NC, as the lighthouse is on an island accessible only by boat. Once on the island, you can walk to the lighthouse, which is located at the southern end of South Core Banks. Climbing the lighthouse may require a separate fee. How to get there: Ferry: The most common way to reach the lighthouse is by taking a passenger ferry from Harkers Island or Beaufort, NC. Ferry services: Island Express Ferry is the authorized concessioner, but other authorized services may be available, so check the National Park Service website for the most current operators.
