Things To Do

If you plan to do any hiking while you visit, please remember you're at altitude! We recommend carrying a water bottle, sunscreen and chapstick (everywhere, even if you're not hiking) and wearing the proper shoes for whatever adventure you embark on.

Rocky Mountain National Park

CO
(970) 586-1206

Visit Rocky Mountain National Park: PLEASE NOTE RMNP IS STILL OPERATING UNDER TIMED ENTRY. If you'd like to visit the park you will need a ticket specifically for the day and section of the park you'd like to visit. Tickets for September are available AUGUST 1ST @ RECREATION.GOV. We would recommend "Park Access + Bear Lake Road".

Hike outside of RMNP

Lots of recs out in Hermit Park Open Space. We're not personally familiar with these hikes check out AllTrails or the link shared here to enjoy some wilderness time without a park reservation.

Lake Estes

Lake Estes provides many activities from walking to paddle boarding to fishing. A paved path in town, this loop is approx 4 mi around. Fun fact: If you see a wood gazebo at the Estes Park resort, that's where Chris proposed!

Downtown Estes

There is a cute river walk through downtown. We love to grab a coffee at Inkwell and Brew and walk the river.

Coffee on the Rocks

510 Moraine Avenue, Estes Park, CO 80517
, (970) 586-5181

We spent a lot of time here our engagement weekend! This is a cute shop with coffee and light fare. It's a great spot for breakfast to enjoy your coffee with a view! You might even see some elk.

Restaurants

As mentioned, Estes is a busy place! We'd recommend snagging a reservation for Friday dinners as soon as you're able: - The Post Chicken & Beer (All their fried chicken is actually GF and you can book a rez on open table) - Cascades @ The Stanley: a bit more expensive but a fun way to see a historic hotel (you can also book on open table) - Bird and Jim: cozy atmosphere with a variety of options (you can book on Resy) - Seasoned Bistro: wine bar right downtown with outdoor seating (book on Resy) - The Wild Rose: we haven't been here but food looks good and outdoor seating is available

Scot Fest

I bet you weren't expecting turkey legs and jousting for wedding weekend but in Estes Park you really can have it all! Attend for highland fare, games and goods. You should be able to buy tickets on site.
