Yes! All US citizens travelling to India need a VISA. The simplest option is the e-Visa which can be applied for online at— https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/. Before applying, you’ll need to ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from your date of arrival and has at least two blank pages. It usually takes 3-5 business days to process the VISA but we suggest that you apply at least 15-20 days in advance.
