We met at Santa Clara University in 2019 taking a singing class, Thomas for an arts credit, Meg for fun. At this point, Thomas' hair was bleached with hydrogen peroxide and was all one color from the California sun, and Meg would sit and laugh while he and his friend cracked jokes throughout class. In the last weekend of the quarter, we ran into each other in the elevator of our building and spontaneously spent the rest of the day together.
In the first week of school, we ran into each other on campus and talked for two hours in the middle of the day. Thomas asked Meg to come to a party at his house that Wednesday; Meg showed up but didn't tell Thomas she ever came, even though we danced a few feet apart. We soon had our first date at the beach in Santa Cruz, lasting 9 hours and ending with homemade enchiladas.
After graduating, Meg moved to Boise, ID for Jesuit Volunteer Corps and Thomas to Seattle for his first big tech job. We didn't know at that point if we would be able to make the distance work, but we kept in touch and visited every chance we got.
By the end of her Americorps year, Meg moved to Seattle and our relationship only blossomed from there. We spent a year there together with our community doing what we loved; spending loads of time outdoors, eating great Korean BBQ, and taking advantage of the vintage markets (at least Meg did).
After Meg got into her counseling program in Nashville, we moved back to her hometown while she finished her degree. Here, we play lots of pickleball, volleyball, and take trips to visit friends and family all across the world. Whether it's adventures to Europe or cozy nights in, we've loved watching our relationship grow and deepen throughout the years.
For our most recent adventure, Thomas planned an engagement trip for us in Banff, Canada. Here, we biked, canoed, hiked, and ate our way through Canada before Thomas popped the question at the beautiful Peyto Lake.
