In January 2018, both the year and US were starting new. It all started when Don began attending Baldwin Park Community Bible Church with his mom where she was a member. As a new visitor of the church, many members greeted him, but one particularly caught his attention: a woman with a friendly smile who gave him a warm welcome and introduced herself as Nicole. From that moment on Don became smitten by her, admiring her from afar, saying hi's and hello's every Sunday morning, and mingling once and while here and there, trying to get to know Nicole little by little, while she kept herself reserved and playing hard to get. On Sunday, April 8, 2018, Don shared his testimony to the church congregation and got baptized that morning. Nicole was moved by God's Gospel transformation in his life and initiated their first hang out to get to know him a little more and develop a deeper friendship. They continued to spend time getting to know each other going out with friends from church. In July, Don invited Nicole to a Zedd concert to celebrate his birthday. Nervous and unsure of what to expect, Nicole learned to let her guard down that night realizing Don was someone she could feel safe & secure around. Most importantly, she knew this friendship could blossom into something more if she gave him a chance. Then on the eve of his birthday, Nicole decided to give him "the talk" and called him after praying to the Lord about timing. She sought for "Clarity" surrounding their relationship as friends and Don confessed his feelings for her then and there. Afterward, they decided to date to get to know each other further and began developing romantic feelings aside from just friendship. On August 18, 2018, Don took Nicole to Disneyland for a special date. After the fireworks, Don brought Nicole in front of the castle and officially asked her to be his girlfriend. She answered "YES!" As God makes all things beautiful in His time, His plans for us was only just beginning.
On August 18, 2019, we celebrated our first year anniversary as boyfriend and girlfriend. Don planned a romantic anniversary dinner in a restaurant in DTLA's Little Tokyo in. Little did Nicole know, Don had something extremely special that night. After dinner, Don told Nicole that they would be visiting the place they had their first 'unofficial' first date. During that time, Don took Nicole to a concert to watch ZEDD at the LA Historic State Park. He told her that he wanted to reminisce that time with her and take pictures while it was still golden-hour. As they walked to the park, Don led Nicole to an area set up beautifully with rose petals, candles, and a sign that said: "MARRY ME". Don went down on one knee and popped the question. Nicole gave an emotional and teary-eyed "YES". Immediately friends and family also popped out from hiding to surprise her with a congratulatory celebration at the park. God orchestrates the best blessings of our lives, we are so blessed to be able to share this amazing love story He wrote for us with all of you. Soli Deo Gloria.
