In the sixth grade, Rachel moved from Virginia to State College, PA. There she read YA fiction extensively, learned how to ski, and make home movies with her friends. Rachel attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she majored in Agricultural Economics and joined the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority where she met many of her closest friends. Today, Rachel resides in Chicago working for Conagra Brands in their Foodservice Marketing department. Kyle grew up outside of Chicago in Long Grove, IL. As a kid, Kyle was often seen with a book in his hand and a smile on his face. When not reading, he loved to swim and ride bikes with the neighborhood boys. He chose Purdue University where he claims to have graduated with a degree in Industrial Management. Since leaving West Lafayette, Kyle lived first in Wisconsin, then the greater Chicago area. He currently works at Sara Lee Frozen Bakery slinging pies like nobody’s business.
How We Met

Like most modern love stories Rachel and Kyle matched on Hinge. With Rachel's busy schedule, it took about a month before they met in person. Kyle thought Rachel was going to ghost him, but she really was just busy! Their first date was a night full of local brews, a long walk, and Uber horror stories. Cin Cin! Since that first date, Rachel and Kyle have been inseparable. After becoming "official" in June 2022, Kyle moved to the same neighborhood so they could spend even more time together. Over the years, they've traveled all over the world to Ecuador, Italy, France, and Spain along with plenty of domestic trips visiting friends, family, and drinking few too many mojitos. Rachel has convinced Kyle to participate in several of her favorite hobbies like skiing, hiking, and tennis. Kyle has gotten Rachel into nerdy stuff like Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons. Together they enjoy taking walks around our neighborhood, watching bad movies every Friday night, listening to Tom Jones on vinyl while cooking dinner, and pampering their two cats.
The Proposal

Kyle proposed on March 29, 2025 in downtown Chicago at Navy Pier. Rachel found it pretty obvious what was going on when Kyle told her to be ready by 4pm, but wouldn't tell her what they were doing or where they were going. The weather was cloudy and cold, but it was a perfect afternoon when Kyle got down on one knee. And of course Rachel said yes!
