West Virginia Capitol Building
Check out the capitol building with a beautiful gold dome. Located along the Kanawha River, you can also see the famous statue "Lincoln Walks At Midnight" depicting the time Lincoln made the decision to allow West Virginia to secede from Virginia and become a state.
Culture Center Theater
Located on the Capitol grounds, this beautiful building has a theatre, gift shop, WV artisan works on display, and The West Virginia State Museum in the basement for the history buffs. A Veteran's War Memorial is also located on the grounds.
Fife Street Brewing
A new brewery located in the heart of downtown. Great beers and artisanal grilled cheeses.
New River Gorge Visitor Center
If you are staying for a long weekend, this is about an hour away. It is now a National Park with great white water rafting, beautiful hiking trails, and sights of an amazing bridge. There are also lots of great breweries in the Fayetteville area.
Appalachian Power Park
If you're in the area early, check out a Dirty Birds baseball game. They will be home Friday night.
